Collaborating to advance cybersecurity research

KN Cyber works with universities on joint research, eligible funding, and independent evaluation of security technologies. The firm remains responsible for its commercial and licensing strategy.

Track What it is
Joint research Collaborative investigations with faculty. KN Cyber brings industry problems, technical concepts, and security practice. The university brings methods, students, and scientific investigation.
Research funding Eligible joint proposals and sponsored research, including programs such as NSF, DHS, and DoD solicitations where KN Cyber can participate. Current solicitations have to be checked before any proposal.
Graduate research Master’s and doctoral research aligned with the published programs, scoped so students have a defined question and KN Cyber has a defined contribution.
Laboratory validation Independent experiments and evaluations. KN Cyber supplies the hypothesis and any materials it is ready to share. The university supplies methods, facilities, and findings.
Industry research Turning operational cybersecurity problems from advisory work into research questions a laboratory can actually study.
Commercialization Negotiated licensing and technology transfer. Ownership is contractual. It is not assumed.
